KINDERGARTEN STORIES…a presentation showcasing a moment in time in kindergarten life. It’s exuberant, heart felt and tender while captivating the innocence of youth and their love for their teacher, Mrs. Passchier.
These stories came to life when I shared my vision with the wonderful parents of my son’s part time kindergarten class. Everyone showed great enthusiasm in having their child tell their story. As this project advanced, Gregg and I became progressively more inspired and drawn into the magic and wonder of their world.
Sharing time with each child was an incredible experience.
Enjoy the journal of our adventures.
Cheers,
Cath

Our equipment, ranging from cameras, sound and lighting equipment, laptop, keys, food and kids were all crammed into the van and set to head towards our first adventure. We’re ready and amped!
NILS
Talking with Nils today was a delight! He kept our camera busy with his whimsical charm and silly faces. He has the best cross eyed look in town! Ask him, I’ll bet he’ll give you a look. Nils created a delightful picture full of character using a wide array of color and stickers . I just love the sound of Nils’s voice . He’s a classic!

A full day of stories, images and laughter were shared with a number of children today. We had the pleasure of listening to stories from Chris, Ethan, Isaac, Garret, Alex, Georgia and Fisher.
CHRIS
“Smiling Chris” was a pleasure and so sweet! He has such a gentle personality and lights up the room with his glow. He loves his fire trucks and even sported his fire chief hat that he was awarded on a field trip this past September. You are a treat.
ETHAN
He’s very ambitious and loves all his friends. Ethan is an extremely polite soul. When it was his turn to tell a story, he excused himself from his play date and quickly joined us for his tale. A sprinkling of enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things makes hanging out with Ethan truly inspirational.
ISAAC
Isaac is full of joyful energy and vitality. His radiant eyes accompany a grin that stretches to the end of the earth! He loves books, history and is full of inspiring adventures. A zest for life makes Isaac a treat to be around.
GARRET
Easy going yet mature. Garret carries an abounding wealth of hockey ability and knowledge. You can tell that sports are important to him. He’s very thoughtful which is a true winner both on and off the ice!
ALEX
A happy-go-lucky boy. Alex is just loads of fun. He has a super positive attitude and tells the best jokes ever! Incredible animal sounds and mannerisms make his characters come to life. Always ready with a wealth of intriguing questions and fascinating stories.
GEORGIA
Sweet Georgia-loves everyone! She’s incredibly patient. It’s especially apparent when you are in a classroom full of fifteen bouncing boys. Her precious, calm voice and smile tell a lot about her – a sweet little girl with a huge HEART.
FISHER
This guy loves to spell… “F I S H E R spells FISHER”, he announces! Portraying him in the magazine bin was fitting, thus giving him the ability to peruse magazines for more spelling words! A way too cool kid. He thrives on the color green, which also makes him very eco friendly.

Venturing among secret spies and Batman to wild animals in a jungled room with a swinging boy! Our days seem to get more adventurous each moment.
CODY
Could this be Batman, a secret spy or Cody? Wait, an incoming message reveals that it’s for the Top Agent. He has a superb imagination and a super friendly smile. His efforts to hang out with us between missions were greatly appreciated.
TYLER
Tyler swings through his room to the top bunk only to camouflage himself within a medley of wild stuffed animals which makes a game out of finding the jungle boy, aka Tyler. He says that the best things about school are all his friends and teachers. A kind heart and an artistic eye make you SHINE.
APRIL 11, 2008
A half day of school means plenty of kid energy and readiness for new adventures. We are set for the task.
PATRICK
A delightful Ninja Turtle who is full of positive uplifting energy. Patrick’s smile is intoxicating and is accompanied with an imagination beyond belief. Care to hear a song? He’ll sing out a sweet little song for you anytime and anywhere (view the presentation and you will know what I mean!).
TANNER
An absolutely charming soul sums up Tanner. His innocent young voice and peaceful character make spending time with him a pleasure. He loves school and especially learning all about math and computers. His enthusiasm and innocence is a breath of fresh air.
APRIL 13, 2008
What a beautiful blue bird sky day and it’s WARM too!! All the creatures and animals are coming out to play. I think we will do the same…
OLIVIA
All dressed up in her finery, Olivia sports a pink flowered dress with a sweater to match and nails polished in an array of glittery highlight. Shoes? Must have a matching pair! Combine a fancily dressed girl with her spirit for the outdoors and an old tree with a fort and you have a match. She’s always ready for fun and an outdoor adventure.

Today we awoke to a most dramatic spring squall. Wind howling, dark clouds churning above while readying themselves for pelting hail. Believe me, I didn’t feel like I was in “Kansas” anymore (actually Colorado, but Kansas sounds better in this story). Luckily, our house was grounded and our adventures took us to better places to visit Chase, Bram and Lila.
CHASE
This boy loves his dirt, gears and anything that moves quickly. Chase knows all about motorcycles and ATV’s. Time for a quick breather when he displays a few funny faces at us. Good laughs! He enjoys school, recess and venturing with his friends.
BRAM
Ready to have your day brightened? Bram can definitely make that happen through his imagination, hugs and humor. His eyes and smile radiate spark and character. It was nice for us to experience childhood again through his eyes.
LILA
A beautiful treasure to experience. A giggle here, a smile there and a heart full of love and kindness. Lila displays amazing sincerity and gentleness towards everyone. When sitting with her you become captivated by her wonder. She paints an outstanding picture too!

Today wraps up our last day and adds a few twists to the piece. We’re headed to school to complete our last interviews and portraits while trying to remain unnoticed by Mrs. Passchier.
KEVIN
Striking eyes and an enthralling personality! Kevin puts it all out there with his songs, bubbly attitude and charismatic expressions. He always has a kind word and is a best friend to everyone. Bring it on, and make us laugh some more!
MS. SUE
Everybody loves Ms. Sue! Her amazing persona captivates children and makes kindergarten such a magical place. Yes, Ms. Sue, kindergarten is a magical place and part of that magic is you!
AARON
Aaron (AJ) is our boy. He’s energetic and cool. He cares about all his classmates and teachers and has thoroughly enjoyed his entire kindergarten experience. As AJ puts it, “My friends and teachers will be in my heart and live with me forever.”
MRS. PASSCHIER
The children’s voices sum it up best, “I love Mrs. Passchier because… she teaches us and that is how we learn. She’s silly, crazy, funny, kind, nice, gives great hugs, plays games with us, shows us how to tell time and has great stories.”
The “kiddos” simply adore Mrs. Passchier and treasure all the new experience and knowledge she has given them to move forward in their lives. She goes beyond the extra mile while always teaching from the heart. We have been sooooooo blessed to have her as part of all of our lives!
Thanks, Mrs. Passchier, for loving and guiding all our children. YOU ROCK!!!
SUMMARY…
And in the end, each kid instilled a message in us that is sure to last. A memory so precious and dear from ones so young that we felt it important to let you know… Take and make time with your kids, show them that they are special, hug them regularly, teach and support their ideas, listen, play, dance, sing, laugh a lot and enjoy every minute. They are only young once – experience, love and cherish all that they have to offer.
Let your teacher know how much he/she is appreciated!
